these are my top five podcasts for anyone who is trying to learn or listen to more french.
Coffee Break French was one of the first french podcasts i found as a beginner french learner. there is a variety of series available ranging from a beginner level to a more advanced level. the podcast has two hosts, one french speaking the other english speaking, and they have a very fun dynamic that makes it interesting to learn. i enjoy that they explain certain grammar and vocabulary in a very approachable way.
Duolingo French Podcast is similar to the first podcast mentioned, as it teaches you through story series but geared at intermediate learners only. the episodes have a high production value and the stories are all very unique. an english speaking narrator is interspersed with the french speaker to add details and helps to ensure you are following the story.
The InnerFrench Podcast was a podcast i really enjoyed listening to when my french was at an intermediate level. this podcast is still geared towards french language learners but each episode delves into various topics related to french culture but also general culture as well and i always quite enjoy language learning using topics that are also interesting to talk and think about.
Choses à Savoir is a podcast geared towards french speakers with daily 1-2 minute episodes each answering a question such as ‘why are flies so hard to catch?’ ‘why don’t objects fall straight’ and much more. this particular podcast covers ‘general culture’ but they also have several other podcasts including Santé for health related questions, Gastronomie for food related questions, Histoire for history related questions and many more. visit their site to see all the other podcasts that they release.
Change Ma Vie is the first podcast i listened to that was not geared towards language learners and is one that i still really enjoy to this day. the title translates to ‘change my life’ and the episodes are relatively short, around 10-20 minutes, going into a variety of personal development topics. i really enjoy listening to this podcast as it’s very inspiring and the tips that Clotilde gives are very easy to implement and remember in your day to day life. and i love that i am able to practice my french while also getting some self help at the same time.
BONUS: PASSERELLES is a podcast i discovered while writing this post. i had never heard of it before but the few episodes that i listened to were fun to listen to for me. this podcast is also geared towards intermediate language learners and covers a variety of topics such as how to improve your spoken french, why french cuisine is so successful and if procrastination is a question of laziness.
let me know if you give any of these a listen and if i missed any of your favorite french podcasts. belle écoute!
